FAQs
What size soccer balls are required?
U5 thru U8 Size 3 Ball U9 thru U12 Size 4 Ball U13 and Up Size 5 Ball
What are the rules about uniforms?
Please make sure your child has soccer cleats. FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL CLEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED, as the toe cleat poses an injury risk to both the user and opposing players!
Does my child have to wear shinguards?
Shinguards must be worn UNDER the outer sock, NOT ON TOP. Players may wear their shinguards over a thin inner sock, but an outer sock must be worn over the shinguard. Wearing a sock underneath the shinguard and “folding” it over the top of the shinguard is not adequate coverage and is not authorized.
Shinguards are not just for game days. NO SHINGUARDS = NO PLAY / NO SCRIMMAGE. (A player who shows up to practice without shinguards may participate in footskill training, but SHALL NOT participate in any type of 1-V-1, 2-V-2, 3-V-3, etc. or scrimmage.)
Is my child allowed to play with earrings or jewelry?
No. Earrings (including studs) or jewelry of any kind MAY NOT be worn at practice or on game day. (Medical alert bracelets are an exception).
Is my child allowed to play with hair clips?
Rigid (plastic/metal/wood) hair clips / hair ties are not allowed. (Elastic hairbands/headbands are acceptable.)
Can I bring my pet to the park to watch the children play?
No. Florida Youth Soccer Association and the Florida State Referee Association do not allow animals onto soccer fields at any time. The fields are defined as any grass area within the soccer complex, not just the actual playing field. This is also a county ordinance which is routinely enforced by county employees / Davis Park supervisors.
Is smoking allowed at the fields?
There is NO SMOKING allowed anywhere within Davis Park. PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE ANYWHERE WITHIN THE SOCCER COMPLEX!
What happens if there is lightning?
St. Johns County has installed the Thorguard Lightning Prediction System. If there is dangerously close lightning, then an alarm wlll sound. Everyone must exit the fields and enter their cars. The alarm system will determine when conditions are safe and you can resume your games. Three 5 seconds blasts will sound when everything is all clear.
What if I have an issue with the referee at my game?
