Developmental
Registrations for our Developmental League (more advanced than Recreational, less advanced than Premier) is open to players Under 9 (U9) through Under 12 (U12). A player evaluation is required prior to Developmental Team placement to ensure the player is ready for this higher level. Coaches are paid coaches provided by the PVSC. Developmental teams practice twice per week and generally play 8 games during the season. Games are played at Davis Park and away at locations such as Jekyll Island, Gainesville, and other local soccer clubs. Developmental teams will train 2 to 3 days per week during the regular season and play games mostly on Saturdays through the months of Sept, Oct and Nov for the Fall season and March, April and May of the Spring season.
Developmental fees will remain the same from last year. The Developmental 2010-2011 registration fee is $550. The only additional cost would be for camps, tournaments and any off season training provided by the coach.
This is our middle tier of player placement. These teams are formed for players that have shown to have advanced abilities above the Recreational level. The PVSC considers these teams vital to those players seeking to one day play competitive soccer. Teams are usually formed around the first week of June each year. The PVSC has 3 different age groups: U9, U10 and U11/U12. Accepting a position on one of these teams is considered a strong commitment by the family and by the PVSC to the future development of each player.
The club will provide a paid coach for these teams. The PVSC believes that at this level there should be NO parent Coaches. The only exception would be if the parent/coach candidate has a strong soccer background that includes playing at the collegiate level.
Team members will be expected to attend ALL Dev/Comp level Camps (usually 3 annually). These camps are usually held during the month of June, August and Jan. Failure to attend these camps could result in removal from the team and forfeiture of ALL fees paid. Team members may also be required to participate in pre-season and off-season team training sessions. These sessions are fee based since they are not during the months of employment for the coach. Developmental teams will most likely attend 1 tournament each season. Tournament fees, coaches travel and all other costs incurred in these events are the responsibility of the team. Teams will play in the North Florida rotation which could include travel to Gainesville to the South and Jekyll Island to the North.
Mission: To provide the most structured environment possible so that all players can continue to grow both on and off the field through great leadership of the coaching staff. To also provide the highest level of training available so that each player can obtain and master the technical and tactical skills needed to one day take the next step to playing on a competitive travel team.
