Storm

The Ponte Vedra Soccer Club considers the Storm teams to be the TOP tier in player placement. It represents that your child has been selected to one of our competitive travel teams also know as the Storm. Tryouts are usually the first week of June each year. Although many of our teams will also play under US Club Soccer and tryouts for those ALL-Star teams will be ongoing throughout the year. Registration fees are ALL inclusive. Additional cost to the families would be for camps, tournament registration and expenses and their coaches travel associated with that play and any off season training provided by the coach.

Off season camps: 2 Storm camps are held each summer typically held in June and August. Each winter we will hold 1 camp usually in January. Storm team players are expected to attend All Ponte Vedra Soccer Club sponsored training camps. Failure to do so could result in forfeiture of all fees paid and possible removal from the team.

Coaching: The PVSC does not believe in parent coaches at the competitive level. A rare exception could be made by the PVSC BOD. An example could be, collegiate or professional playing experience or many years coaching at the Competitive level with proof of success. In these situations, the PVSC will place guidelines on the coach to insure equality for all players. All coaches must be licensed and show willingness to continue their coaching education.

Storm teams will train 2 to 3 days per week. The days are determined by the coach. Most likely those days will be Tues, Wed and Thurs. When preparing for events, additional days could be added. Storm teams will either play in the North Florida rotation or the Florida State League rotation. The decision on which league to play in will made by the coach based on his or her assessment of where the team will be most challenged. The North Florida Soccer League (NFSL) will competes in greater Jacksonville with possible travel to Gainesville in the South and Jekyll Island to the North. Games are generally on Saturdays with and occasional Sunday game. The Florida State League (FSL) requires more travel. Teams from around the State will meet usually twice per month in a central location, like Orlando or Palm Bay. Teams will travel and play 1 game on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday. For teams ranked in the top 4 of the State, your team may be invited to play in the Region III league. These games could be as far away as North Carolina or Georgia.

The players can expect the fall soccer season games from mid August through early November and the spring season games from early March through late May.

Accepting a roster spot on one of the STORM teams is a 12 month commitment. These players are expected to make the STORM team priority #1 throughout their commitment. Players will be allowed to play other sports such as school sponsored soccer and other sports for cross training. Storm fees will remain the same from last year.  The Storm 2010-2011 registration fee is $875. The only additional cost would be for camps, tournaments and any off season training provided by the coach.

Attendance policy: The PVSC is VERY strict on attendance. If you accept a roster position on one of our teams that means you most likely knocked a young player off the team and out of our system. many times this involves a  player who has shown dedication to the  club and their teams as they have climbed the ladder of development.

Excused absence- illness, family emergency, injury (the PVSC will give advice on how to manage and get treatment for the injury, proof of treatment and physicians clearance for the player for full participation will be required)  and 1 practice per week to play in another sports game (not practice). Although these are approved absences, your child will most likely not start and have limited playing time in the next game.

Unexcused absence- anything other than above in (excused absence). With an unexcused absence the coach has the liberty to suspend the player for the next game or allow them to attend the game and give them little or no playing time. Multiple unexcused absences- can result in forfeiture of all fees played and removal from the team.

Mission:  Dedication to Quality of Quantity! The PVSC will work hard to provide the best environment possible to promote the continued development of our STORM players. This will start with the PVSC BOD’s, who will provide the much needed structure for the club, who will also work hard to  raise the funds needed to provide the very best coaches, trainers and the nicest facilities and latest equipment to facilitate your child’s development. We will supply your child with all the needed training, coaching and mentoring possible to insure their complete success.
