Jr Academy FAQs
The PVSC Jr. Academy is to bridge the gap to between our recreational soccer and the competitive soccer program. These high-level training sessions will be held by our licensed, experienced coaches and training staff with the focus on player development. The emphasis in these hour-long practices will be on technical skills like ball control, progression on passing, moving the ball up the field, and finishing the play. The training will also include small sided games allowing the players to have more touches on the ball and promoting problem solving in-game situations.
Who is the Jr Academy program for?
This program is only available for those players looking for an opportunity to enhance their play in a more competitive environment. If you are not sure if your son or daughter is ready for the Jr. Academy, please speak to one of our trainers during one of the regular practice sessions for an evaluation.
What time commitment is there to be part of the Jr Academy?
Practices will take place on Thursday evenings from 6-7pm starting Sept 27th. We hope to add 3-4 additional games exclusively for the Jr Academy teams to play against other local Jr Academy soccer clubs. This will require some local travel to Jacksonville and St. Augustine.
When do practices start?
Practices will start on Thursday Sept 27th, three weeks after recreational soccer practice starts and will be 8 about weeks long.
How much does the Jr Academy cost?
The cost of the Jr Academy will be between $89 and $124 depending how early or how late you register. More information here.
What age group participate in the Jr Academy?
Players born in 2011 and younger
What if my Child was born before 2011?
Although we do not have a dedicated Jr Academy for player who were born before 2011, we are working with the Armada Youth Academy to create an additional day of technical training with the competitive players during the week. Opportunities to be added to competitive rosters as limited guest players may be made available for some players as well. We hope to have more information by the time next seasons practices get on their way.
When do games start?
We are working with the other clubs in the area to put together a schedule. We hope that most games will be played either on Saturday afternoon or sometime on Sunday. We should know more by the time the practices begin in the spring.
Is there anything else I should know?
It is our goal to create equally matched teams in our recreational program. So, we will be placing an equal number of Jr. Academy players on each team. We may, even recommend some players move up one age bracket to enhance their skills even further.
We must have at least enough players to support an entire team for each age group in order for that age group to participate in the PVSC Jr Academy.
