2026-27 Age Group Formation
U.S. Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, and the Association Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) have collectively announced a major update to age group formation beginning with the 2026–27 season. This change moves away from the current calendar-year model (January–December) and returns to a seasonal-year model (August–July) for player age grouping. Please see the full article from US Club Soccer here.
At PVSC, we understand how important consistency, community, and clear communication are for our families and players. As we prepare to transition from a calendar-year birth model to a seasonal and school-year model for the 2026–27 season, our staff and coaches are thoughtfully planning every step of the process. We are reviewing rosters, organizing age-appropriate trainings and evaluations, and creating resources to help families better understand what to expect during this transition.
We also recognize that this adjustment may create challenges for some players and families, particularly for those who may shift into a different age group under the new guidelines. This is not unique to PVSC — clubs across the country, along with their players and families, are navigating this national change as youth soccer aligns with the seasonal and school-year model. Our focus remains on supporting every player throughout the process while making decisions centered on long-term development, care, and transparency.
Our priority is to ensure this transition feels as smooth, supportive, and beneficial as possible for every member of the PVSC community as we move forward together. Thank you for your trust, patience, and continued support.
